Safety Glass

Tempered Glass
Tempered glass is strengthened through the process of heat or chemical exposure and is designed to balance internal stress; therefore, tempered glass is 4x stronger than annealed glass and better able to resist stress of high temperatures (200°F – 300°F), which would cause annealed glass to crack. If tempered glass does break, its unique fracture pattern causes it to disassemble into granular chunks like rock salt, as opposed to annealed glass which shatters into dangerous shards. Because tempered glass is much stronger than other glass types, it is used in many applications including: shower doors, glass doors, patio tables, refrigerator trays, among other uses requiring safety glass.

Nashua Glass can order your tempered glass to your specifications. Once tempered glass has been processed, it may not be cut or drilled.

Laminated Glass
Laminated glass consists of two or more sheets of safety glass held together with a sheet of bonding plastic. When broken, bonding plastic holds glass in place. Laminated glass is used in storefronts, skylights, and glass doors, and is ideal with its use and locations risks impact between persons and glass.

Plexiglas®
Plexiglas® is the brand name for acrylic. It is scratch resistant and UV resistant, but is quite durable and comes in a variety of shades and hues. Plexiglas® is also available in a variety of thicknesses and can be easily formed to the needs of the buyer.
